My grandma, who my sister and I fondly referred to as Oma, overflowed with love for nature. With her grandkids, she graciously shared her deep love for the flowers welcoming Spring, for animals scurrying around, for the forest, for the moon, for crafting, and for creativity. She spent many days outside, and her garden seemed to sing the harmony to nature’s melody.

 

I cherished my Oma, and I distinctly recall my 5-year-old self falling in love with her favorite flowers: Maiglöckchen (aka Maybells aka Lily of the Valley). Every year, I would try to wait patiently for the delicate bell-shaped flowers to bloom, so I could tell Oma the good news. Her favorite flowers were here! I couldn’t wait to see her face light up.

 

Memos and Maybells was created out of the love that I learned from my Oma. She taught me what it means to find so much joy in our surroundings and to share that with others. Memos and Maybells aims to celebrate nature, to dream of magical worlds, to create designs that bring out the wonder in us, to bring joy and love to others, and to spread some twinkles. If we can light up even one more face in this world, Memos and Maybells will have been a success.
